Clock watching

Wow, I take a few days away from the blog and the page view count climbs to over 1,600. Thank you everybody for coming and taking sneaky peak at my work - hope you're enjoying looking at it as much as I enjoy making it.

I'd kinda burned myself out, so took a couple of days away from my craft desk to get my mojo back.

Yesterday I sat down with something that had been lurking on the back burner for months. An assortment of stencil challenges, 'anything but a card' and grunge had passed, but this was still a piece of greyboard with my grunge paste scraped onto it.

This month's challenge at Clarity is 'Clocks'. My original intention had been to set a clock mechanism into this piece, but I changed my mind. I was going to thieve the mechanism out of a very cheap children's 'design your own clock' kit, but in the end decided to actually make the clock and turn this into a piece of wall art, don't ask me how I'm going to hang it though!

Inspiration came from a piece by Maria Simms, fresco paint demos by Barbara Gray and the challenges listed below the picture.

Grunge paste through Clarity Clocks stencil, onto greyboard (backed onto same). Coloured with Paperartsy Fresco chalk paints (Hint of Mint, Turquoise, China, Marlin, Plum and Claret). Jumble of sponging, brayer walking, hand painting.

Clarity Stamp Challenge #27 - Clocks
Simon Says Wednesday - Stencil It
Time Out #31 - Grunge

  1. Love the grungy look of your take on this month's challenge Claire.
Just goes to prove that we should never discard anything that "isn't quite right" at the time - yours turned into a great piece and perfect for the Clarity clocks challenge!
Good luck and thank you for sharing your artwork with us x

  2. A clever take on this month's challenge Claire, and as Carole says, a good example of why we shouldn't discard anything that doesn't appear right at that given moment. Thank you for entering this month's Clarity challenge. Good luck! x
